The magnificient journey to the West

So today is the big day. We will (hopefully) reach Gibraltar in one or two hours!
The posts have been...um... rare. Because finding free wireless internet in Europe is one hell of a thing to do. We managed to get online when we were visiting Amsterdam but we had no time to post in two languages. So let's begin telling stories.
Poland. We crossed the boarder early in the morning 'cause we got off from Vilnius at 3 a.m. We managed to cross all the Poland without stops longer than one hour. well, actually there was only one major stop - when our vehicle had some minor problems. Luckily, we managed to fix everything and get back on the road. Since then we had no big problems with our bus.
Germany. We got to the border at about 1 a.m. Everyone was ready for gestapo searching but we went through like a hot knife through butter. That night we slept over in some field which, at first glance, looked abandomned but in the morning it became clear: we were sleeping in some small village's fields. Berlin was very dissapointing - it looked very empty. No traffic jams, no vast masses of people and no 25 meter tall wall of Berlin. So, we moved on. We decided to get to Holland as soon as possible and that's why we didn't stop at any other city.

OK, this time I have to run, because we are using free wireless connection in a gas station in Gibraltar and it's getting dark and we still don't have a place to stay. Well, actually, we never have a place to stay. So, the point is - you will read more next time.

P.S.: Ųdra has a 2.5 meter long Damask steel penis. This was a bit surprising, because hey, you never know what does your friend hold in his pants.

We are leaving Lithuania. Let the journey begin...

And now, for something completely different...

... We are finally starting our journey! So many countless times it has been delayed... We have faced many problems during preparations. Our boys Udra, rutulėnas and Donatas spent all the days and even nights repairing it while girls (me, wee and ziv) searched for places we could visit. We are planning to cross Poland without a break, then reach Berlin and take a walk there (not a long one, I guess). Another longer stop will be taken in Amsterdam (to try some space cakes, I believe). Then Hague, Rotterdam, Antverp, Brussels, Paris, Orleans, Biarritz... We are also planning to visit some wineries near Bordeaux :) Then Spain (San Sebastian, Pamplona, Soria (so many great castles around it!!!) Madrid, Seville) and, if everything will be O.K., we'll reach Gibraltar and then return home riding by the Mediterranean (also a stop in Andorra), then Torino in Italy, CERN near Lake Geneva ('cause we are physicists :)) Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Slovakia and Poland again. If we're still alive...

And another thing...

Today we go international! I had this thought for quite a time but just didn't take any action. So I was preparing my dinner the ohter day and Udra (one of the team members) called me and proposed this beautiful idea of an international blog. And since english is more international than lithuanian we started posting in english. I cannot guarantee that 'international' posts will be more frequent than lithuanian but we will try to update in both languages as frequently as possible.

So let's begin.

Something about us

We are a group of young people. We are good friends and we all have something in common - we all study physics. One day we came up with the idea of exploring the world with a minibus, so we have collected the money and bought a wonderful 1984 Volkswagen Transporter. In a few days we managed to turn this:

into this:

as cheaply as possible (if you look closer you can even see that the paint is plane simple nitro-enamel which is used for all kinds of stuff except car painting).
There is still job to do, of course, but we will be ready to get out of lithuania on 7th of july (primary day of departure). We will head south - to Spain and, hopefully, north Africa.
We will try to post as frequently as possible to keep you up to date!
